Skating in skates that don't fit your feet can ruin the whole experience of playing hockey and ultimately hamper your game. The right fit and model of skate will help you get the most out of your skating. It is important that the skates have the right fit and size and that they are adapted both to your weight and how frequently they will be used.
It is important to find a skate with the right fit that gives you good comfort and sits stably on the foot so that you get good contact with the ice. A skate should fit as tightly as possible on the foot, but children/young people who are growing should have 8-15 mm of growth.
With us at Hockeystore you will find skates for all athletes. In our wide range of skates you will find a large variety of models from leading brands on the market, such as Bauer, CCM and True. We have skates for both elite players and beginners.
An essential part of your equipment is the skates. It is impossible to play ice hockey without skates. It is also essential that you have a pair of skates that fit well on your feet. Since skates don't look like anything else you'd wear on your feet, it's a good idea to try them on properly.
Please remember to never wear skates that are too big. This can cause problems with your feet. Bumps and the like can occur if the foot is not firmly attached to the skate. A skate should be as tight as possible on your feet. For players who are still growing, you clearly need to have some wiggle room in your hockey skates, max 1.5 cm allowance is okay.
Make sure you sharpen your skates before you go out on them. You need to have a profile (radius/area) on your skates to get the most out of your skating. There are lots of different profiles to choose from. If you are a new skier, a single profile is recommended, which is a bit flatter, it gives more support in the ice and better stability. If you've been playing for a while, try a profile that's a little more curved. It helps with steep turns and twists in the slope. More advanced players may want to try a Chest & Arm profile to raise their score even further.
